Dulce de Leche & Nocciola from Eva’s Gelato & Coffee Bar

Eva’s does gelato right. Rich, creamy, and full of flavour, picking just one or two to fill your cup isn’t easy. We stuck with two of the most popular, Argentian flavours – Dulce de Leche (caramel) & Nocciola (hazelnut).

Eva’s is one of the best gelato places in Winnipeg. With two locations, one down Corydon and the other in Island lakes, they’ve become a must-try destination for ice cream lovers looking to try something a little more classy.

The idea of gelato is simply, it’s still all the milk, cream and sugar ice cream lovers are used to, but there is less butterfat and air in the mixture. This makes for a thicker, densely flavoured cream that makes for an extra special treat.

The Dulce de Leche, or caramel to use English speakers, tastes exactly like those small wrapped candies that live in purses, melted down and whipped into a cream. If you’re the kind of person who can suck on these candies all day, this is the flavour for you.

The other classic, Nocciola or hazelnut, is a subtle Nutella flavour that feels particularly lighter than any of the other sweet flavours. We’d recommend this to just about anyone and would be a great introduction to the flavour and texture of gelato.

Gelato can also take advantage of fruity flavours better than a typical ice cream. Try the lemon or any of the fresh flavours the staff may have whipped together recently. If you like fruit and ice cream, gelato might be the best thing you haven’t tried yet.

We can’t wait to go back and try more flavours!

Scoop Score Cone or Cup’s Scoop Score rates each ice cream treat between 1 and 3 scoops.
